As far as symptoms associated with endodontic involvement, they vary from a complete lack of symptoms to severe, unrelenting pain that creates an inability to eat, sleep, or work. Most people will have experienced at least slight temperature (hot and/or cold), pressure and/or chewing sensitivity, or a dull ache of and by itself. Symptoms may come and go, or may be constant.

In the initial onset of symptoms associated with endodontic involvement, it is common to be awakened in the middle of the night with a mild, dull ache in the jaw that responds to aspirin, ibuprofen, or Tylenol. Please do not allow yourself to think that over-the-counter medications, or even antibiotics, are capable of treating endodontic involvement. Once a tooth is endodontically involved, the only alternative to root canal therapy is extraction. You need to be properly evaluated and treated accordingly. Failure to properly treat an endodontically involved tooth can not only lead to tooth loss, but it can also lead to pain, swelling, serious health issues requiring hospitalization, and ultimately death.

If you are experiencing any of the above listed symptoms, or have been advised you need root canal therapy, and desire an evaluation in our office, please contact us. We will gladly provide you with an appointment. You do not require a referral to be seen in our office! We are interested in not only helping you save your tooth, but we also want to help you remain physically healthy.
